Director-writer Dan Rush makes his film debut with this dramedy based on a Raymond Carver short story about Nick (Will Ferrell), a good-hearted but relapsed alcoholic who decides to live on his front lawn after losing his job and being thrown out by his wife.

I think if youre expecting the established brand of Will Ferrell comedy then you might be a little dissapointed with “Everything Must Go”. If however you enjoyed the likes of “Gigantic”, “Cyrus”, “The Waiting Room” or “Hallam Foe” then you will be just fine! A slight glimpse of the “Stranger Than Fiction” Will Ferrell which I liked…. I”m still not converted though.
This was a good movie. Very interesting choice for Will Ferrell, but I think he stood up to the role quite well, this coming from a ‘die hard comedic Will Ferrell fan’, I think it says quite a lot. Still don’t think he’s really diverse enough to challenge too many dramatic roles, but very well filmed (given it’s mainly filmed on his front lawn) and a very interesting story.
