Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-MEN.

I thought this was by far the best of the X-Men series… in fact in light of this film “hitting the nail on the head” the way it did I’m almost sorry the others where even made. I would be stoked if they just carried on from here… using the timeline set out in this one and just running with it. Perfect cast (apart from Mystique and an uncomfortable Kevin Bacon who is completely one dimensional), great effects, true to the origional story line… great film!
I’ve never been a particularly big X-Men fan but this was great, enjoyed it as much as wolverine and iron man. The comic genre has been done so well that you now don’t even have to know that an original comic existed to enjoy them…i know serious comic buffs will baulk at this..but lets be honest, do grown men still read comics?
